Los Angeles Marathon 26.2

This is Lisa Lopez reporting for Nina! NEWSFLASH...Hooray Nina! You are an amazing woman!

Nina crossed the finish line today competing in her first Marathon! Her time was 5:18:22 (average pace of 12:08 for 26.2 long miles).

And even though most of us couldn't be there to suuport her we all know she did it with a smile on her face and probably won over a dozen or so new friends in the process. Nina's not only an athlete but a morale booster and inspiration to all around her.

Please check back soon for Nina's updates on the experience and all the photo's.

SPOTLIGHT ON MARIELA!

Spotlight on Mariela!

My friend Mariela completed The 13.1 Marathon this past Sunday 01/10/10. To prepare, she trained with a boot camp in her area. Her two goals were to finish the race without needing the SAG Wagon (If one cannot maintain an 16-minute per mile pace, you will be required to board the support buses)and before the race route closed. Mariela has Arthritis and every step towards her goal was a challenge because running with Arthritis is the worst recreation due to joint pain. Going into mile 2 she was starting to feel some discomfort, but stayed focused on her goals and endured. She has accomplished her 1st 2010 goal. Next on her list is to learn how to ride a bicycle so we can do the California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour by The Arthritis Foundation in 2011.

GO MARIELA! GO!

Thank You!!!

Thank you to the Sporteve staff (especially D' Lynda) for all the support with my training attire, prescription goggles, Kay's knick-knacks, endurance drinks and all other items that were purchased throughout the year for race day. I loved all the book signings, sports, health and training workshops given throughout the year. Tuesday night runs are GREAT! I also give a special thanks to Yael, for introducing me to viXen training.

Where would I be without

Lori Christensen of viXen training? With one full year of training I lost weight, became a ocean swimmer, and ultimately became faster overall. Everything I asked for from Lori was produced, and even though it was challenging she kept me laughing with her great sense of humor. I AM A TRIATHLETE!!! THANK YOU!!!
