Spotlight on Mariela!
My friend Mariela completed The 13.1 Marathon this past Sunday 01/10/10. To prepare, she trained with a boot camp in her area. Her two goals were to finish the race without needing the SAG Wagon (If one cannot maintain an 16-minute per mile pace, you will be required to board the support buses)and before the race route closed. Mariela has Arthritis and every step towards her goal was a challenge because running with Arthritis is the worst recreation due to joint pain. Going into mile 2 she was starting to feel some discomfort, but stayed focused on her goals and endured. She has accomplished her 1st 2010 goal. Next on her list is to learn how to ride a bicycle so we can do the California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour by The Arthritis Foundation in 2011.
GO MARIELA! GO!
